Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna:

Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna is the highest sporting honour of the India.

It is awarded annually by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

The award is honoured for their spectacular and most outstanding performance in the field of sports over a period of four years at international level.

The award comprises a medallion, a certificate, and a cash prize of 7.5 lakh.

The first recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award was Chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand, who was honoured for the performance in the year 1991.

Youngest recipient of the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award was shooter Abhinav Bindra received the award at the age of 18.

Arjuna Award:

Arjuna Award is given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, a government of India to recognise outstanding achievement in National sports.

It was given from 1961. The award carries a cash prize of 5 lakh, a bronze statue of Arjuna and a scroll.

Dronacharya Award:

Dronacharya Award is an award presented for excellence in sports coaching by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the government of India.

Best sportsperson award is named Arjuna Award, it is appropriate that the coaching award is named after Dronacharya, as he was the teacher of Arjuna.

Dronacharya Awardees will receive statuettes, certificates and cash prize of Rs.5 lakh

It was given from 1985. The first Dronacharya Award winner was O.M. Nambiar Athletics coach.

B.I. Fernandez was the first foreign coach to be awarded Dronacharya Award.

Dhyan Chand Award is India’s highest award for lifetime achievement in sports and games, given by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

It was started in the year 2002. The award carries a cash prize of 5 lakhs, plaque and a scroll of honour.

The first recipient of Dhyan Chand Award was Aparna Ghosh, the Basketball player in the year 2002.
